Amalgamate Dance Company offers residencies throughout the United States and internationally. Our operation is designed to help build organizations, encourage self confidence, and inspire each artist to dance with their entire being – strengths and weaknesses, mind and spirit.
Amalgamate company members are equipped to teach multiple styles of dance while in residency, from ballet to hip-hop, Horton to jazz. We also offer our exclusive ADC Contemporary Technique, which is studied by the company dancers in New York City.
ADC Class Descriptions:
ADC Contemporary Technique
ADC technique focuses on the creative expression, authenticity, and technical virtuosity of a dancer. This technique will strengthen your body and ignite your soul. Experience asymmetric shapes, a constant connection of movements facilitating fluidity, and a high demand for personal artistry. Practice a cardiovascular warm up; combinations to develop imagination and purpose behind your movement; and guided improvisation to build partnering skills and use of the key elements of dance. This technique encourages and inspires dancers to explore their strengths and weaknesses in class so they can be incorporated into a unique craft for performance.
Modern Dance / Performance Improvisation Lab
Grounded in modern dance technique, this lab class explores improvisation as a performance and theatrical art. Each class will have a specific focus and theme – for example, movement dynamics, playing with props, fun with falling, spacial awareness, and building relationships. We will begin with a modern dance warm-up, move on to improvisation exercises, and conclude with structured play exploring the theme of the day. Finally, we will end with a video viewing of our final structure. The class is open to all levels – Dancers | Movers | Actors | Groovers… all encouraged! PRACTICE – PLAY – PERFORM
Choreography
Commission ADC to set a new original work on your students or company and/or learn current ADC Repertoire.
