THE CASSIE BERNALL AWARD OF DISTINCTION
ADC chooses to honor Cassie Bernall and the Bernall family through The Cassie Bernall, a financial award of $400 presented three times a year to an ADC company dancer at the end of the month closing the Fall, Winter, & Spring company seasons. The Runner-up (guest artist or apprentice) receives $100.
For facing challenges with excellence, courage and bravery.
Cassie’s Story
In 1999, twelve students and one teacher were killed during a shooting spree at a Colorado high school. As the details became known, one aspect of the last few seconds of Cassie’s life became apparent. With a gun to her head Cassie was asked, “Do you believe in God?” She said “Yes” and was shot. Today is a gift, be one to many, persevere through all obstacles you face and be an example to others. May you always be prodded to Dance with a Purpose.

“It’s a honor to be the first male to receive the Cassie Bernall Award. Hopefully the first of many. Being recognized for the hard work and sweat, and there is a lot of sweat, that is put into Amalgamate’s work is a reward in itself. My thanks and love goes to whoever makes this possible not only for their dedication to the arts but also their unprecedented generosity.”

Thank you to this Donor for creating and funding such a unique, yet profoundly important, recognition for ADC dancers – who are all constantly giving it their all. I am humbled by the recognition and will continue to work as hard as I can, both in the studio and out, for this company. Thank you again. “
Hali Bekofsky:

Heather N. Seagraves (2x):
“After a challenging 2010-11 fall/winter season, both personally and professionally, being recognized with the Cassie Bernall Award gave me a chance to reflect and be even more grateful for what I have in life and in my dance career. I was able to look back at my experiences through both my strengths and weaknesses; within each moment I saw clearly how I used them equally to overcome struggles and to step into the light when given the opportunity. This rest of this year too has been a huge obstacle; however, the Cassie Bernall has served as a continual reminder of my gift and passion for dance. I am on my path.”
Nicole Cutrone:
“I’m so honored…still in awe. It feels so good to be appreciated in this way.”
Christina Morris:
“Receiving the Cassie Bernall award felt like validation. I was really working on finding my unique artistic voice and it felt great to be acknowledged for all of the hard work I was pouring into my dancing.”
